Aviation Market in China
Safran, one of the mother companies of CFM International*, through its subsidiary Safran Aircraft Engines, is involved in numerous activities to support all Chinese Airlines operations. From marketing & sales, to customer support, after sales services, training, maintenance and repair, engineering tasks, Safran is locally engaged as a major partner of China civil aviation industry. More than 7,000 CFM56 and LEAP engines are in service or on order in Greater China. Safran has made industrial teaming arrangements for the subcontracted production of engine parts and the production of low-pressure turbine shafts for CFM56-5B and -7B engines. It has also created a dedicated CFM56 maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center in partnership with Air China.

Safran provides, through its companies Safran Nacelle, Safran Landing Systems and Safran Electrical & Power, systems and equipment– including nacelles, thrust reversers, landing gear and wiring. They are used by a wide range of single-aisle and widebody commercial jets operated by China's leading airlines. Sagem provides Aircraft Condition Monitoring Systems (ACMS) and Analysis Ground Stations (AGS) to help Chinese airlines improve fleet operation and management. About 50% of China's commercial airplanes are equipped with Safran Landing Systems landing gear and braking systems. Safran Landing Systems MRO center in Singapore supports its landing gears on Airbus and Boeing jetliners. The company also provides wheels and carbon brakes for the Airbus jetliners deployed by the four national Chinese airlines, as well as eight private carriers.
Safran has worked closely with AVIC (China Aviation Industry Corporation) for some 40 years, through complete or partial production under license of the Safran Helicopter Engines Arriel 1 and Arriel 2C helicopter engines and Safran Electronics & Defense autopilots for the Z9/H425 helicopter. Safran Helicopter Engines is also developing the WZ16 turboshaft engine with the Dong'an Company to power the new AC352 helicopter. Over half of the Chinese helicopter fleet is powered by Safran Helicopter Engines turboshaft engine. Moreover, hundreds of helicopters in China use Safran Electronics & Defense equipment (autopilots and flight control systems), either imported or license-built in the country.
