Safran Helicopter Engines in China
Located in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Shenzhen, Safran Helicopter Engines has an established presence in China with over 600 engines in operation in the country, and 40 years of cooperation with the Chinese industry. Over 50% of all Chinese-registered helicopters are equipped with Safran Helicopter Engines engines or licensed products, making Safran Helicopter Engines the leading helicopter engine supplier in the country.
Safran Helicopter Engines products power western aircrafts as well as Chinese Avicopter aircraft operating in China. Safran will keep on supporting China's helicopter market growth. In recent years, Safran Helicopter Engines has significantly reinforced its MRO activities by strengthening its local team and opening a support center in Tianjin in 2013. This new center is now in charge of Arrius, Arriel and Makila engines operating in the region.
In April 2018, Safran Helicopter Engines received EASA's (European Aviation Safety Agency) engine type certification for its Ardiden 3C engine. Also called WZ16 in China, the engine has been jointly developed and built by Safran Helicopter Engines, Dongan and HAPRI (both part of the Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC) consortium). The Ardiden3C/WZ16 was selected by Avicopter to power its AC352, developed in cooperation with Airbus Helicopter. Safran Helicopter Engines is also offering an Arrius 2 engine variant to drive the AC322, Avicopter's new three-ton helicopter project.
Over the years, Safran Helicopter Engines has developed a successful cooperation with its Chinese partners, and is committed to investing further in this long-term partnership and increasing its footprint in China.
