As a world leader, Safran Landing Systems designs, produces and supports landing and braking systems for all types of aircraft. Safran Landing Systems is a partner to 30 leading commercial, military, business and regional aircraft manufacturers, and supports more than 28,300 aircraft making over 60,000 landings every day.

The Vélizy facility includes an extensive capability from brake, wheel and systems testing laboratories to equipment complete integration benches.

Company capabilities encompass the full life cycle of our products, ranging from design and manufacture to in-service support, repair and overhaul.

  • Landing gear and integration: Safran Landing Systems is the world's leading maker of landing gear.
  • Wheels and brakes: Safran Landing Systems is the world's leading supplier of aircraft wheels and carbon brakes.  As the world leader in carbon brakes, it supports more than 1,000 airlines.
  • Systems equipment: a complete range of steering, landing gear extension/retraction, braking and monitoring systems.
  • MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul): Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in landing gear and system MRO, backed by a network of 7 repair stations, servicing more than 900 customers, with more than 1,400 landing gears maintained and overhauled per year, and more than 10,500 equipment components repaired annually.

Safran Landing Systems pioneered carbon brakes on aircraft, introducing this revolutionary technology that cuts weight in half compared with conventional steel brakes. The company equips more than 9,000 commercial aircraft in service. The company's expertise is also recognized in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1 racing, where a number of teams call on Safran Landing Systems' high-performance carbon brake disks and pads.

Like many other Safran companies, Safran Landing Systems is investing heavily in electric technologies for new-generation aircraft. For example, it supplies the electric brakes on Boeing's latest, the 787 Dreamliner. Safran Landing Systems is also developing the electric taxiing system in partnership with Airbus. Instead of using its main engines for taxiing on airport taxiways, burning fuel unnecessarily, the aircraft will use small electric motors fitted inside the wheels of its landing gear. It will enable airlines to save up to 4% in fuel, reduce emissions on ground by more than 60%, reduce noise, improve safety and bring more autonomy on the ground. Safran Landing Systems counts more than 7,600 employees in Europe, North America and Asia (end of March 2018). The company ensures that the future generation of landing and braking systems will embarked the latest innovations to bring cost-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to the market (lighter, quieter, smarter).
