Safran Transmission Systems designs, produces and supports the transmissions that provide the mechanical energy needed for aircraft and their engines. Power transmissions by Safran Transmission Systems outfit all types of aircraft, from business and regional aircraft to military transports, and from mainline commercial jets to fighters and helicopters. To date, it has delivered over 30,000 power transmissions, logging more than 700 million flight-hours.
The company's proven expertise has led to its selection on many of today's leading aircraft programs. Safran Transmission Systems provides power transmissions for the entire range of CFM56* engines, for all three versions of its successor, the LEAP*, for the engine powering the Airbus A350 XWB, and for the engines on the Gulfstream G650, the Airbus Helicopters H175 and the Rafale's M88. Its clientele includes the engine-makers Safran Aircraft Engines, CFM International and Rolls-Royce, and the plane-makers Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Dassault Aviation. Hispano-Suiza offers a full range of support services, from one-time repairs and spare parts to total fleet support and "by the hour" packages.
A significant part of Safran Transmission Systems' annual revenues is reinvested in R&D, enabling the company to develop new, differentiating technologies for tomorrow's aircraft. Research at Safran Transmission Systems focuses on innovative systems to tap and transmit power, and on highly loaded mechanical power transmission systems.
* The CFM56 and LEAP engines are produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE.
