Sichuan Services Aero-Engine Maintenance Bonded Area Project (Phase 1) Foundation Laying
September 21st, the new plant foundation laying ceremony for the Bonded Area Project (Phase 1) of Sichuan Services Aero-Engine Maintenance Company (SSAMC), the joint venture between Air China and CFM International*, was held in Chengdu Comprehensive Bonded Area Park Shuangliu Yard. The new plant will have installed capacity to overhaul and repair up to 300 engines per year and will start its operations during the end 2016 to 2017.
Representatives from all parties involved in this project have participated in the ceremony, including Mr. Jean-Luc DOUBLET, Senior Vice President of Safran Group, responsible of COMAC & AVIC Aircraft Programs, Mr. FAN Cheng, CPC Secretary of Air China, Mr. LIU Yingxiao, China North and Taiwan Regional General Manager of GE Aviation, the representatives from Southern Bureau of CAAC, Chengdu municipal and Shuangliu county governments and relevant departments, and French and USA Chengdu consulates.
Once this project is implemented, SSAMC will become the first enterprise in Sichuan to take advantage of bonded policy to develop maintenance business of aircraft products which are not produced in China. SSAMC will bring new energy and vitality into Chengdu "Global Maintenance Center" development.
*CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Snecma (Safran) and GE.
